Newly available from Palmetto Publishing, Becoming a Man is a workbook for a young man and a trusted adult to complete together, exploring five principles of grounded manhood through shared reflection and practice.
CHARLESTON, S.C., Nov. 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Palmetto Publishing has released Becoming a Man, a new workbook by Leslie Grace Eggenberger. The book is designed to be completed by a young man and a trusted adult side by side, each filling their own pages and sharing their reflections. It is available now in print and online. Eggenberger is a Certified Trauma-Informed Life Coach, a Certified Transformational Leader, holds a Master’s Degree in Happiness Studies and is the mother of two young men.
The book moves beyond critiquing toxic masculinity to offer a practical framework for what grounded masculinity can look like in everyday life. Eggenberger structures the framework around five principles: Presence, Purpose, Proactivity, Provision, and Clarity. Each principle is explained, then carried into the body through somatic practices, daily and weekly exercises, tracking tables, journaling prompts, and conversations meant to be shared. Candle meditations, body check-ins, and silent walks appear alongside a pacing guide for working through one principle at a time.
The central challenge the book addresses is a gap in guidance. Boys receive critique, performance pressure, and fragmented models of masculinity, with little instruction in what grounded manhood looks and feels like. Eggenberger argues that good character does not arrive automatically and that practice, not criticism, is what raises boys. The adult is not positioned above the process. Father, mother, mentor, coach, grandparent, aunt, or uncle, whoever walks beside the young man does the practices too, including the harder ones, such as sharing difficult emotions within forty-eight hours rather than letting them harden into resentment.
Leslie Grace Eggenberger stated, “I want young men to know they are allowed to be whole. I want them to be strong and soft, to feel deeply, and to learn how to express those feelings with care and responsibility. The point is not to reject masculinity, but to define what a healthy version of it looks and feels like. This workbook invites them to do that alongside an adult who is willing to guide them.”
The book is written for adult guides, to be read alongside young men ages as young as 6 years old through adulthood. It sits in the parenting and fatherhood category and will be familiar in tone to readers already working in personal growth, mindfulness, and emotional intelligence literature. While fathers and male mentors are a natural audience, the workbook is written to include mothers, guardians, and female mentors. It arrives during sustained public debate over boys, masculinity, and mental health, offering structured practice in place of commentary.
Becoming a Man is available for purchase online at Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com. For more information about the author, please visit any of their social media platforms.

About the Author: At fourteen, in Guatemala City, Leslie Grace Eggenberger picked up her first book on personal development. It was the beginning of a lifelong question: what helps people flourish? That question has become a lifelong inquiry. She is a Certified Trauma-Informed Life Coach and Certified Transformational Leader, and she holds a Master’s Degree in Happiness Studies.
Her deepest work, though, has been with boys. Eggenberger is interested in the spaces where young men are allowed to be whole, where softness is not treated as a failure of strength and emotional intelligence is taught rather than assumed. Becoming a Man grew out of that interest and out of her life as the mother of two sons, Jacob and Max, to whom the book is dedicated to. Rather than write a book that instructs adults about boys, she built a workbook that asks both adult and young man to practice side by side. Her conviction runs through every page. Critique cannot raise boys. Framework and practicing in connection can.
In 2017 she walked her son to school in Winter Springs, Florida wearing a T-Rex costume. News outlets picked it up, she became known as “T-Rex Mom,” and the point of the stunt was exactly what it looked like: she wanted her boys to see someone express herself without fear of being judged for it. It is the same lesson the workbook teaches, in a louder outfit.
