Reading Horizons® President Trisha Thomas Named to Utah Business Women to Watch

Reading Horizons®, a trusted leader in structured literacy for more than 40 years, today announced President Trisha Thomas has been named to Utah Business‘ Women to Watch list, which honors 40 of the most influential female business leaders in the state.

Thomas joined Reading Horizons in 2020 as Chief Revenue Officer and has since guided the organization through a period of significant strategic growth, expanding its reach to more than 200,000 educators across 6,000 school communities worldwide. Under her leadership, the company has evolved from a supplemental literacy provider into a comprehensive Pre-K–5 core and K–12 intervention partner.

“Trisha exemplifies what it means to lead with both strategy and conviction,” said Tyson Smith, CEO of Reading Horizons. “She understands what is at stake for the students we serve and leads with that urgency every single day. This combination of heart and drive is rare, and this recognition reflects exactly who she is.”

Her leadership extends beyond Reading Horizons. She has been actively involved in the Blood Cancer United Student Visionary Program, where she was recognized as Team Member of the Year for her unwavering dedication and teamwork. Working shoulder-to-shoulder with her candidate, she helped recruit and motivate team members, shape strategy, and drive fundraising efforts through the final stretch, ultimately helping the team exceed its goal. The recognition reflects a consistent pattern in her leadership: commit fully, mobilize others, and stay engaged until meaningful impact is achieved. She also serves on the board of Spotlight Performing Arts Center, supporting youth development and creative expression, reinforcing her belief that literacy, confidence, and voice are deeply connected.

“Utah has no shortage of extraordinary women leading with purpose, so to be included in this group is an honor,” said Thomas. “This recognition belongs to every educator who trusted us with their students and every colleague who believed in what we are building. We are proud of the work, and we’re just getting started.”

Reading Horizons continues to expand its impact across the country with the upcoming launch of Ascend, a comprehensive structured literacy system that brings together core instruction, intervention, and personalized literacy support to serve students from Pre-K through grade 12. The company’s growth reflects a longstanding commitment to ensuring that every student has access to the foundational reading skills they need to succeed.
