The honor marks Thrift’s fifth consecutive appearance on the annual list, which recognizes Indiana executives, entrepreneurs and civic leaders whose leadership is shaping the state’s future. For Thrift, the recognition comes during a milestone year for the company he co-founded while attending Indiana State University and has since grown into one of the nation’s leading privately held real estate organizations.

“It’s an honor to be included among so many leaders who are making a difference across Indiana,” said Paul Thrift, CEO of Thompson Thrift. “This recognition is a reflection of the incredible people I’ve had the privilege of working alongside over the past 40 years. Together, we’ve built a culture where making a positive impact on our team members and the communities we serve is at the heart of everything we do.”

Over the past four decades, Thrift has guided Thompson Thrift’s evolution from a locally focused company into a nationally recognized, fully integrated real estate organization with more than 660 team members and projects spanning 24 states. To date, the company has developed more than $7.3 billion in real estate while earning a national reputation for excellence in multifamily development.

Throughout this growth, Thrift has remained committed to a servant leadership philosophy centered on investing in people, strengthening communities and building a values-driven culture, an approach widely regarded as the defining characteristic of his leadership. Under his direction, Thompson Thrift’s philanthropic initiative, TT Serve, recorded its strongest year to date in 2025, mobilizing more than 5,300 volunteer hours, hosting 15 company Serve Days and five Vision Trips, engaging approximately 80% of team members in service initiatives and supporting dozens of nonprofit organizations locally and globally.

While Thompson Thrift’s reach now extends across the country, Indiana remains central to the company’s story. Recent milestones, including the continued expansion of Fishers District and a long-term partnership with Indiana State University to help prepare the next generation of construction professionals, reflect the company’s continued investment in the state where it was founded.

Beyond his leadership at Thompson Thrift, Thrift has served numerous business, civic and nonprofit organizations throughout Indiana and nationally, including the Indiana Chamber Foundation, National Multifamily Housing Council, Indiana State University Foundation and Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce. His commitment to mentoring future leaders and strengthening Indiana’s business community has remained a constant throughout his career.
